How To Choose The Lining For Electromagnetic FlowMeter

When selecting the lining of the electromagnetic flow meter, it is necessary to comprehensively consider the characteristics of the measured medium, the operating temperature, the pressure, whether it contains solid particles or fibers, and the cost-effectiveness ratio. The following are some common lining materials and their applicable scenarios:

Chloroprene rubber (CR):

  • Features: It has good anti-aging, acid and alkali resistance and wear resistance, but its corrosion resistance to low concentrations of acids, alkalis and salts is average.
  • Applicable scenarios: It is suitable for non-corrosive or weakly corrosive liquids, such as industrial water, waste water and weak acid and alkali environments. The price is relatively low and it is an economical choice.

Polyurethane rubber (PU):

  • Features: It has good wear resistance and elasticity, and its wear resistance is about 10 times that of natural rubber, but its acid and alkali resistance is poor.
  • Applicable scenarios: Mining slurry electromagnetic flowmeter rubber lined is suitable for media with certain wear resistance but not strong corrosiveness, such as measuring water-containing mud, water-coal slurry, ore slurry, etc. The operating temperature generally does not exceed 80℃.

Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE):

  • Features: Known for its excellent chemical resistance, it can resist most chemicals, but its wear resistance and negative pressure resistance are slightly inferior.
  • Applicable scenarios: Chemical resistant electromagnetic flowmeter PTFE lined is suitable for measuring corrosive liquids, such as strong acids, strong alkalis and other harsh environments. Wide temperature range, usually between -200°C and +260°C.

Polytetrafluoroethylene (F46):

  • Features: Slightly lower chemical resistance than PTFE, but stronger wear resistance.

Applicable scenarios: Suitable for corrosive liquid environments that require higher wear resistance. F46 with metal mesh can significantly improve negative pressure resistance and is suitable for vacuum environments.

Polyperfluoroethylene propylene (PFA):

  • Features: It has excellent chemical resistance, can resist most acids, alkalis and organic solvents, has high temperature resistance, smooth surface and is easy to clean.
  • Applicable scenarios: Suitable for corrosive liquids, especially for occasions that require high temperature operation. The temperature range is similar to PTFE, but the wear resistance may vary depending on the specific formulation.

Ceramic:

  • Features: It has extremely high hardness and wear resistance, and good corrosion resistance, but the cost is relatively high.
  • Applicable scenarios: It is suitable for highly abrasive and highly corrosive media, such as fluids containing solid particles. While ceramic lined electromagnetic flowmeter corrosion proof hardly deforms under high temperature and high pressure, and its dimensions are stable.

When selecting the lining material of the electromagnetic flow meter, comprehensive consideration should be given to the characteristics of the measured medium, the operating temperature, the pressure, and the cost-effectiveness ratio. For highly corrosive media, materials with strong chemical corrosion resistance such as PTFE, PFA or F46 are preferred; for highly abrasive media, polyurethane rubber or ceramic materials with good wear resistance can be selected. At the same time, attention should also be paid to the operating temperature range and pressure limit of the material to ensure that the electromagnetic flow meter can operate stably and for a long time under harsh working conditions.
